The final project of the second year is done!

Magazine-style presentation of a collection based on a film inspiration with mandatory use of stripes in the garments / fabrics.

Here is a snapshot of the collection folder, based on my inspiration by The Painted Veil:

…and the end result – on me 🙂

I have created the stripes on the #denim fabric myself by pulling out different numbers and lengths of threads. I then knotted these together and knitted the collar with it – #zerowaste

End of Second Year Exam here I come!

The Artist’s Project

To create a new collection, made from 100% wool, I was inspired by the Artist Alberto Giacometti, a Swiss Surrealist and Existantialist from the 20th Century. His textures and mood of his drawings and sculptures inspired me for textures and shapes of a 10 look collection.

Giacometti – the moodboard that inspired the collection

From this collection, the task is to make 1 look into reality!

After selection with the advice of my professors – this is the result – a fully lined inspired wool jacket and draped trousers – super-soft and comfortable, with creative hand-dyed lining.

Super-happy with the result – so is my teacher!

The Mascot Project

Here is a sneak peak of what I do all day in Uni – my last Fashion Design Project, called The Mascot. Task was to bring one object that represents you and turn it into a 10-look collection. With a few steps in-between…..

Meet D3

THIS was amazing – bravo Dubai!

I have attended the event “meet D3” for the last 3 days, which was a celebration of creativity and life in Dubai. The new Dubai Design District has been launched to the public with art, design, fashion, music, food and fun.

Honestly, one of the best events in Dubai I have ever been to in my long life here….

Here is what the website has to say:

“In celebration of Dubai’s rich array of creative talent, Dubai Design District (d3) is hosting a three day open to the public community event. “Meet d3”, has been specifically commissioned and curated to feature a compelling mix of local, regional and international designers, artists, musicians, concept retailers and unique dining experiences.

d3 is the realisation His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s ambition to establish a dedicated home for design in Dubai. It is playing a key role in bringing to life His Highness’ vision to drive an innovation-led economy that welcomes creativity in all its forms. With over 200 licenses issued, d3 has secured an impressive mix of design, retail, fashion companies, both regional and local. This includes some of the region’s most well-respected brands such as the Chalhoub Group and Jumeirah Group, through to talented emerging designers. “Meet d3” community event will showcase some exciting local and regional designers work for the public to enjoy.”

So, I have been working with NOT JUST A LABEL (NJAL) is the world’s leading designer platform for showcasing and nurturing today’s pioneers in contemporary fashion.

What a great initiative to break the old of how the fashion industry works! Stefan Siegel and his team are visionaries in creativity and sustainability.
